Intraoral cameras
An intraoral camera is a miniature video camera that the dentist places
in the patient's mouth so that together they can view any dental problems
that the patient is having. The image from the camera is enlarged and
sent to a monitor for viewing. The purpose behind intraoral cameras is
to allow the patient to see the specific area that needs treatment so
that they are more likely to understand the procedure and the dentist’s
recommendation. Intraoral cameras are also useful in building a patient’s
dental history.
Digital Radiographs (X-rays)
Digital radiographs offer
a number of advantages
over traditional radiographs.
Probably the biggest advantage
is less radiation exposure
for the patient. The image
is immediate and there
is no need for processing
film with chemicals, so
it's more environmentally
friendly. Digital radiographs
can also be store on computer
for easier transmittal,
retrieval and archiving.
At
Pure

the Schick Technologies
Computed Dental Radiograph
system.

Laser Dentistry
Laser dentistry refers to any dental procedures that involve the use
of a laser. Recent advances in laser technology have allowed many dentists
to offer laser treatment. During a dental laser treatment a laser device
that transmits a highly concentrated beam of light is used to treat tooth
decay, enamel, and gum tissue. Common laser dentistry procedures include
oral surgery or periodontal treatment (gum disease, gingivitis) and are
often referred to as laser periodontics, cavity treatment, and teeth
whitening,
or power bleaching.
At Pure Dental we use the Kavo DIAGNOdent system for detecting cavities.

Air Abrasion Dentistry
Air abrasion is a treatment that is part of the field of Micro dentistry,
which means that dental professionals use magnification for these procedures.
It is a gentle spray of air and powder that removes tooth decay. It eliminates
the need for the traditional drill, and in most cases, the needle associated
with the drill.
